After playing the Marathon demo umpteen million times, I felt I'd done about all I could, so I started hacking into my saved game files to see what I could find. The result is Maxathon, which I wrote just for the fun of it. I know there's already another Marathon saved game editor that's a lot smaller and faster, but I believe game accessories should be as much fun to use as the games they're meant to complement, so consider this the official "Bells & Whistles" version.
Maxathon allows you to edit your Marathon saved games, giving you access to shields, ammo, weapons, infrared, invulnerability, etc. If you don't want to cheat big time, Maxathon lets you add individual bullets and grenades to the .44 and the MA-75. You can also adjust the focal length of your viewpoint, making rooms seem wider and objects farther away. The one important thing you can't edit is oxygen, but as soon as the full version of Marathon becomes available, oxygen will be added in.
Also, anyone who's interested in helping to decipher the Marathon map formats should contact me, as I'd love to write a map editor/creator.
